How to use this tool
By default, you draw by hovering your mouse pointer over the canvas and moving it around.
If you're on a mouse-equipped device, you can also flip the switch to 'click to draw'.
In 'click to draw' mode, a pixel will only change color if you click it.
The app then becomes a rudimentary pixelart editor.
Note: although this web page works on mobile, there is no 'hovering' on touch devices.
If you're on a phone or tablet, tap individual pixels to change their color.
You are in 'click to draw' mode by default.
- Grid height/width:
-
Determines the size of the pixels. The larger the height/width, the smaller the pixels.
Will take any value between 2 and 250 (after which the squares become so small,
you will barely even see where you're drawing).
- Clear:
- Clears the drawing area completely.
- Draw / Color:
-
Lets you pick the color with which to draw.
In this (default) mode, each pixel is filled with the chosen color as you pass over it,
or on mobile, if you tap it.
- Noise:
-
Makes a pixel 10% darker each time you pass over it,
starting at 10% opacity, until it reaches 100% opacity.
It preserves the color that was already there, if any.
When passing over a pixel that hasn't been touched before,
it will use the color currently set in 'Draw' mode.
Visually, this effect looks rather like a 'dirty' eraser,
especially at smaller pixel sizes.
- Random:
- Draws each individual pixel in a random color as you hover over it or tap it.
- Eraser:
-
Lets you erase individual pixels by clicking on them.
On a mouse-and-keyboard device, you can also
hold your mouse button and drag to clear a larger area.
